Polish online qualifier Mateusz Krzyzewski secured the largest live tournament cash of his career this weekend when he triumphed in the 2017 Unibet UK Poker Tour Brighton Main Event and won ��14,090.

A field of 261 players bought into the Unibet UK Poker Tour Brighton Main Event for ��220, which created a guarantee-busting ��52,200 prize pool. The top 30 finishers received a slice of the funds with a min-cash worth ��370, a final table appearance boosting the take home pay to ��990 and the eventual champion banking ��14,090.
More than 70 online qualifiers took to the felt at the Rendezvous Casino, Brighton, plus such luminaries as Jen Mason, Jon Spinks, Jamie Burland, Manig Loeser and Unibet Poker ambassadors Ian Simpson, Dara O��Kearney, David Lappin, Espen Jorstad, David Vanderheyden and Daiva ��BalticBlonde�� Barauskaite.
Despite the big names battling for the title, Krzyzewski emerged as the tournament��s champion. A software developer in his native Poland, Krzyzewski plays poker online for fun and prefers to play satellites to live events; he secured his trip to Brighton for only �25 at Unibet Poker.
Once the final table was set, Krzyzewski and Darren Adlington were the last remaining online qualifiers so had an added incentive to go as deep as possible. A promotion by Unibet gifted the last standing online qualifier and the winner with a �2,000 Unibet Open package. When Adlington bust in fourth place, Krzyzewski secured the �2,000 prize.
Krzyzewski then found himself heads up against Brighton local Renata Jack for the title, ��14,090 cash and another �2,000 package. Jack has almost $50,000 in live tournament winnings, much of which stems from her play at the Rendezvous Casino.
While Jack would have proven to be a popular champion, it was not meant to be as Krzyzewski won the one-on-one battle to become the third online qualifier to win a Unibet UK Poker Tour from the six events that have taken place to date.
The tour now takes its ��40,000 guaranteed Main Event to Glasgow between June 2-4 before heading to Nottingham on Aug. 25-27. It then returns to Brighton on Oct. 27-29 before ending the year in Manchester on Dec. 8-10.
