WSOP What to Watch For: June 6, 2017

As the WSOP moved past its first weekend and the High Roller for One Drop, eyes are now turned to the prestigious $10,000 Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better Championship as Abe Mosseri leads the final 17 rounders playing down to a winner on Tuesday. Other notables looking to bring home the title include Daniel Negreanu and Mike Matusow. The Colossus also reached Day 2 on Monday and $1,000 Tag Team and $1,500 Dealer's Choice action got underway.
Event #9: $10,000 Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better Championship
This event features big names galore hoping to make Tuesday��s final table and several poker stars indeed advanced to Day 3. Abe Mosseri leads with 1,855,000 chips after 15 levels of play, followed by Yarron Bendor (1,195,000) and Christopher Vitch (676,000). Only 17 players remain, and first place pays out a hefty $391,313.
Daniel Negreanu also advances as one of the top stacks, fresh off a third-place finish last week in the $10,000 Tag Team Championship. He certainly has his seventh bracelet in mind. Other notables remaining include Max Pescatori, Mike Matusow, Dan Shak, Fabrice Soulier, John Monnette, David ��ODB�� Baker, Anthony Zinno, Owais Ahmed, and Matt Woodward. Matusow returns as the shortest stack but will no doubt return motivated when play resumes.

Event #5: THE COLOSSUS III - $565 No-Limit Hold'em
After an entire weekend of starting flights, the official Day 2 kicked off on Monday. No more re-entries, no more registrations, and no more 30-minute levels. With Monday��s restart, levels were increased to one hour and action began with 634 players returning to the Rio. This year��s event attracted a total of 18,053 entries for a prize pool of just more than $9 million. First place will be a cool $1 million.
When play wrapped up, Raul Martinez Requena was the day��s chip leader with Erkut Yilmaz in second and Pojana Jenne in third. Several well-known players also remain in contention for WSOP gold in this event, including Matt Affleck, Robert Hankins, and Tom Hall.

Event #11: $1,500 Dealer��s Choice 6-Handed
Players and dealers alike had to be on their toes navigating the numerous games offered in this popular event. After one day of play, Troy Evans is the chip leader with 76,200 followed by Justin Bonomo (70,900) and defending champion Lawrence Berg (68,000). Berg gave PokerNews some insight on this tournament earlier in the day.
Other notables still alive include Marco Johnson (61,300), Kyle Bowker (55,400), Jeff Madsen (49,600), Jon Turner (46,000), and the first dealer��s choice event winner in 2014, Robert Mizrachi (41,500). Event #10: $1,000 Tag Team No-Limit Hold'em
The final tag team event of the summer got underway on Monday with teams of 2-4 combining their powers in hopes of securing bracelets for the whole team. After the first 10 levels of play, 94 players remain out of a field of 843. First place will divide up a prize of $150,637 and the top 127 will earn a payday.
After Day 1, the team of John Hullet and Deepinder Singh lead the field with 146,000 chips. Close behind are Brian Yoon and Michael Gagliano with 130,400, and Kiryl Radzivonau and Mikhail Semin with 116,600. Other notables still alive are: Allyn Shulman, Jessica Horan, and Barry Shulman (109,000); Maria Ho, Fedor Holz, Rainer Kempe, and Philipp Zukernik (42,100); and certainly an interesting addition to the field, the team of Andy Bloch, Howard Lederer, and Chris Ferguson (23,000).

Event #12: $1,500 No-Limit Hold'em
If No Limit Hold��em is your game, this lower buy-in option should feature plenty of rounders looking for a score. Last year��s winner was Sweden��s Peter Eichhardt, who bested a field of 2,016 players for a hefty payday of $438,417 for his first bracelet and first six-figure score. Event #13: $1,500 No-Limit 2-7 Lowball Draw
A favorite poker variant of many pros, this event should attract quite a few big names. Last year��s winner was Ryan D��Angelo, who took home $92,338 after topping a field of 279 runners. D��Angelo has almost $3 million in tournament winnings and been on a bit of a roll the last few months with several nice scores.
