Ukraine's "aghero.agnis" won the first $100,000 Mystery Bounty Main Event 888poker has run since the hugely successful PokerNews Online Championship (PNOC). The Ukrainian left a trail of 992 opponents in their wake as they turned their $109 buy-in into a $7,680 score.
Most of the largest bounties had already been won during Day 1, including the $10,000 jackpot bounty. The eventual champion's fellow Ukrainian, "RudMaxud," received that princely sum before busting in 13th place. With bounties included, "RudMaxud" took home $10,509, making them the biggest winner in this week's tournament.
One $3,000 bounty waited to be won at the final table, altering the dynamic because it was worth more than fourth-place prize money. Sweden's "LiQuidZero" went into the final table with 100 big blinds, 33 more than "duquezinho" in second. Only "Mr.Krabs," with 14 big blinds, was considered short-stacked, but even they had enough chips to cause most others problems.

Twenty minutes passed without an elimination but Germany's "belem008" broke the deadlock. After "aghero.agnis" min-raised under the gun and "duquezinho" called in middle position, "belem008" moved all-in for around 14 big blinds with pocket tens in the big blind. The initial raiser folded, but "duquezinho" called with a pair of jacks in the hole. Those jacks improved to a set on the flop, and "belem008" was gone.
The United Kingdom's "jamesc127" busted in seventh after they min-raised on the button with ace-king of spades and calling off their remaining 25.6 big blinds after "duquezinho" three-bet all-in from the small blind with ace-jack of diamonds. "duquezinho" flopped a flush draw, which came in on the turn, to send the Brit to the rail.
A short-stacked "Mr.Krabs" was the next finalist heading for the exits. "duquezinho" min-raised under the gun, "Mr.Krabs" three-bet all-in for 6.5 big blinds from the next eat along, doing so with pocket eights, and "aghero.agnis" called the shove from the small blind with king-jack. "duquezinho" decided to call with their ace-seven, and check-called a bet on the jack-high flop only to check-fold on the turn. The river was not an eight, and "Mr.Krabs" scuttled off into the night.
Then came the elimination of "zMukeha" who has been sandwiched between the two biggest stacks and unable to build any momentum. "BibaIvanovna" opened in the cutoff with ace-king, "zMukeha" called with queen-ten in the small blind, leaving only three big blinds behind, and "duquezinho" came along for the ride in the big blind with king-eight of clubs.
A deuce-nine-jack flop with two clubs was always going to ignite the blue touchpaper, which is precisely what happened. "zMukeha" jammed with their open-ended straight draw, "duquezinho" shoved with their flush draw to isolate, and "BibIvanovna" ducked out of the way. The turn and river bricked, meaning the king-high of "duquezinho" was enough to reduce the player count by one. The hand's winner not only added valuable chips to their stack but received the last remaining $3,000 mystery bounty payment.
Fourth place went to Armenia's "BibaIvanovna" after a clash with "LiQuidZeRo" did not go as they planned. "LiQuidZeRo" min-raised on the button with king-queen and called when "BibaIvanovna" three-bet all-in from the small blind for 8.2 big blinds with ace-jack of hearts. "LiQuidZeRo" flopped a queen but needed to avoid an ace of a jack to send the at-risk player to the showers. The turn was another queen, with the river being a black eight.

Three-handed play spanned only ten minutes, ending with "duquezinho" headed to the rail. Down to 10 big blinds, "duquezinho" moved all-in with king-jack from the big blind after "LiQuidZeRo" has min-raised on the button with pocket jacks. "LiQuidZeRo" called and avoided a king to send the $100,000 Mystery Bounty Main Event into the heads-up stage.
"LiQuidZeRo" held a 70.0 big blind to 54 big blind lead over "aghero.agnis" at the start of heads-up play. As the players were so deep, it took the best part of an hour for a champion to emerge.
"aghero.agnis" had whittled their opponent's stack to less than ten big blinds, putting them in push-fold mode. "aghero.agnis" moved all-in with ace-nine, and "LiQuidZeRo" called with the dominate ace-five. The five community cards landed without a five or an unlikely straight, meaning "LiQuidZeRo" was the tournament's runner-up, and the loose-aggressive "aghero.agnis" was the champion.
