Jordan Griff hails from the Chicago area (Schaumburg, Illinois, to be exact) and is best known for finishing as the runner-up in the record-breaking 2024 WSOP Main Event.
Griff started playing poker at age 21 during college, with his biggest tournament score before the 2024 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event came in a 2023 World Series of Poker Circuit (WSOPC) event in Northern California, finishing ninth for $18,104. He only had one other five-figure cash, and just three small cashes in WSOP bracelet events.
Griff reached the 2024 WSOP Main Event final table with 143,700,000 chips, the most of any of the finalists. Having locked in $1 million for reaching the final table, Griff spoke to PokerNews.
"I mean, the money's great, but this is a dream for me. I mean, everyone who watches poker growing up in the Moneymaker era or watching the TV programs, you want to be at the final table, and to do it this year with the largest field it's just it's a dream come true."
Prior to his deep run in the Main Event, Griff had just $47,000 in live tournament cashes, which was then dwarfed by the $6 million received for his second-place finish. Griff lost heads-up to Jonathan Tamayo at the 2024 WSOP Main Event final table.
