Earlier this week we had a little fun with that stirring Super Bowl 51 and the crazy comeback of the New England Patriots to beat the Atlanta Falcons, recasting various "win probability" moments as no-limit hold'em hands. In terms of their win probability, more than once the Patriots were down to needing to hit runner-runners to survive.
Of course, you can't really compare a football team's chances to an all-in situation in poker. After all, at any given moment during the game both teams can still affect the outcome with their play calls and actions, while the all-in players are at the mercy of whatever cards happen to come to complete the board.
You can compare the relative probabilities of all-in situations, though, which is what today's installment of The Weekly PokerNews Quiz asks you to do.
What follows are eight pairs of all-in situations between two hold'em hands. With each you're asked to pick which of the two is more of a long shot that is, which represents the worse spot in which to be. As you'll see, the comparisons aren't that close at all to start out, but gradually the difference between the two spots lessens as the quiz proceeds.
When you finish, take a look at the "Top results" to do some more comparing that is, to see how you did versus others taking the quiz. Sign into your PokerNews account before starting and your username will appear on the leaderboard. If you need an account, click here get one.
