Cedric Jaby, Jaskirat Singh Bindra Storm to the Top on Day 1b of the EAPT Barcelona Main Event
Cedric Jabys run to the top of the chip counts on Day 1b of the EAPT Barcelona 565 Main Event wasnt without some controversy.
Right before the dinner break, Jaby was all in for his last 55,000 with a set of fives. Antoine Nicoli turned over a pair of tens and tossed it into the middle of the table. The dealer interpreted it as a call. So did Jaby, who was prepared to accept a double up. But Nicoli passionately argued he had folded for nearly 10 minutes into the break before a floor ruled it would stand as a call, much to his disagreement.
Jaby wasnt done there taking down big pots. He later busted Yossi Ifergan in a set-over-set cooler to end up with 595,000 and leading the 13 remaining players who will return tomorrow for Day 2 at 6 p.m.
Jaskirat Singh Bindra is right behind him in second place. Bindra busted former chip leader Ryan Dansie, then took out Sebastian Tusal two spots off the money on his way to bagging up 550,000. Alexander Ivanov (370,000) is in third place after taking most of Tusals chips with a set of sevens, while Mark Buckley (309,000), Daniel Sanchez (288,000), and Alexander Delgado (266,000) are also big stacks. Carlos Esquerdo, who already won the EAPT Cup this week at Casino Barcelona, is a short stack with 109,000.
