Nein Nine for Cainelli
A steep drop into the danger zone for Luca Cainelli, who found himself almost all in on the turn in bad shape indeed, with vs. the of Fabrizio Gonzalez. There was a third trey on board: and with no Nine on the river Gonzalez doubled to 400,000.
You would be forgiven for thinking that the reason his last 30,500 went all in the next hand was desperation/tilt, but in fact he had a miraculous pair of Queens! Both blinds ended up calling his shove and checking down the board, at which point the big blind hurled his hand into the muck and the small blind (Gonzalez again) showed a losing . Cainelli survives, for now.
Incidentally, the muck-hurl was deemed against the rules by the floor as both players have to show down at the end vs. an all-in. Gonzales got rather hot under the collar and shouted at Thomas Kremser about how this wasn't allowed, and it was ruled that he was correct. His irritation seems to have overcome the double up joy he must have experienced last hand.
