Moneymaker Among Big Stacks for Day 2 of 2019 EPT Open Sochi
All three starting days of the 2019 PokerStars EPT Open Sochi RUB133,000 Main Event (~$2,040) have completed ten levels and whittled down a big field of 853 entries to 363 survivors, who will return to their seats in the Karaoke poker room and Ballroom at the stunning Casino Sochi at noon local time.
The final field size is not set in stone yet as those wishing to take a shot at the juicy prize pool can jump in before the first cards are dealt and will receive just shy of 20 big blinds at 800-1,600 with a big blind ante of 1,600. At least 10 levels of 60 minutes each are scheduled for today and it is expected to get close to the money bubble if not even burst it.
Those unlucky enough not to go deep can look forward to two things later in the evening as the first of two starting days of the RUB10,500 "Moneymaker's Road to PSPC" kicks off at 8 p.m. local time and plays down to 5% of the field. The winner can look forward to the highly-sought Platinum Pass worth 26,000 for the 2020 PokerStars Players NL Hold'em Championship (PSPC) in Barcelona in addition to the first-place prize. As of 9 p.m. local time, the player's party with an open bar will also get underway.
The meet and greet with PokerStars ambassador Chris Moneymaker may very well take place at the poker tables as he heads into Day 2 as one of the big stacks, having claimed 226,300 to his name on Day 1a. That's good enough for sixth place overall so far as Andrey Andreev remains the chip leader with an impressive 381,400.
Other notables with big stacks include Anatolii Filonenko (299,400), Sergey Efimov (221,000), Ghassan Bitar (216,300), Dmitry Vitkind (176,000), Aleksandr Orlov (154,400), Tobias Peters (132,900), Nikolay Fal (114,200), and Gleb Tremzin (105,000). Fatima Moreira De Melo is also in the mix and the PokerStars ambassador is in the middle of the pack on 53,500.
Four former EPT Main Event champions are in the remaining field as well: Maxim Lykov (79,200), Arsenii Karmatckii (50,900), Andrey Pateychuk (41,400) and Dzmitry Urbanovich (30,100) all aim to add another title to their poker resume.
