Koloszar Puts a Slight Dent in Gonzalez

Jose Gonzalez had continued accumulating chips during this level, recently crossing 1,200,000, until tangling with Daniel Koloszar in a blind versus blind pot.

In the small blind, Koloszar got his last 145,000 in the middle and Gonzalez called to put him at risk.

Jose Gonzalez opened the cutoff to 12,000 before Benjamin Tessier defended his big blind and they were off to a flop heads up.

The A?3?10? flop hit the felt and action checked to Gonzalez who continued for 8,000. Without thinking for too long Tessier put in a flop check-raise to 23,000. Gonzalez called.

The 2? landed on the turn introducing a backdoor flush draw and Tessier opted to continue the story for 54,000. Gonzalez came with a call once again.

The 5? landed on the river completing the backdoor flush and Tessier didn't skip a beat and led again for a large bet of 150,000. Gonzalez went into the tank and after a full time bank he announced he was all in. Although Tessier didn't look excited about it, he flicked in a call for his tournament life. The cards were tabled and the cooler was real.

Gonzalez rolled over A?Q? for the rivered backdoor nut flush and Tessier tabled 4?6? for the rivered nut straight with the flush blocker.

Tessier hit the rail and Gonzalez dragged a massive pot to move over the one million chip mark for the first time today.

Carl Shaw raised to 12,000 in the cutoff and received three callers, including Thomas Santerne on the button, Nemanja Lukovic in the small blind, and big blind Gerard Carbo.

The flop came Q?J?8? and Lukovic led out for 12,000. All three opponents called to see the Q? turn.

Action then checked to Santerne who bet 20,000. That was enough to chase away Lukovic and Carbo, but Shaw stuck around and called to the 6? river.

Shaw then fired out 128,000 and Santerne adjusted the big pair of headphones he was wearing as he went deep into the tank. He burned through two time bank cards and thought about the decision for more than a minute before tossing his cards into the muck.

Aksel Aygun opened from early position to 10,000 before getting called on the button by Enrico Camosci and in the big blind by Marius Irimia.

The 8?10?K? flop hit the felt, and without much time in the tank, Irimia led out for 8,000 from the big blind. Both of his opponents called.

The 8? turn landed and the Irimia led out again for 30,000. This time, he only got called by the original raiser, Aygun.

The 7? hit the river and Irimia led one last time for 40,000. Aygun went into the tank and started talking it out to his opponent. After less than a minute he put in the chips and got the good news.

Irimia tabled K?Q? to show he was betting for value with a hand that was pipped by the A?K? of Aygun.

Aygun scooped to take back some chips after being in a tough river spot in this hand.
