Day 2 of Event 8: Large Stack BBA Set to Crown a Champion
Day 2 of Event 8: Large Stack BBA is set to begin. A tournament that began with 330 players, creating a prize pool that was just $1,000 short of the 100k guarantee, is now down to 25 players who return with a chance to move up the payouts and walk away the winner. Every player still remaining has secured a payout bump from the $550 min cash to at least $733 and it only increases from there with the rewards peaking at $23,439 for 1st place.
Leading the way entering the day is runaway chip leader Justin Arnwine, who brings in 1,728,000 in chips which is good for 86 big blinds at the days first level. He has nearly double the chips of his closest competitor, Phong Nguyen who has 934,00, which is nearly 47 big blinds. Dong Jun Ji (926,000), Tim Faro (894,000) and Anthony Askey (766,000) round out the top 5 chip counts.
Eliminations are likely to start fast as eleven players enter the day with less than 20 big blinds but play may extend as the day goes on when the stacks get deeper and the levels longer.
Play begins at noon local time with 35 minutes remaining in level 20 with blinds at 10,000/20,000 and a 20,000 big blind ante. All levels will be 45 minutes in length until the final table where they will extend to 60 minutes long. Breaks will come every 2 or 3 levels and the tournament director will determine a dinner break as the day goes on.
PokerNews will provide the coverage of the eliminations, big hands and chip counts as the day unfolds.
