Linus Loeniger Wins Triton Poker £25,000 Event
The £25,000 No-Limit Hold’em Turbo was scheduled to be completed in one day, but had to be paused with seven players remaining as a handful of those at its final table were set to compete in the series’ biggest event.
Linus Loeliger was the chip leader when the curtain came down at the end of Day 1, and he kept up that momentum to triumph over his remaining six opponents and secure a £690,000 prize, the Swiss pro’s largest-ever live cash.
Michael Soyza was the first player to bust on Day 2 on Aug.4, a result that netted him £122,300. The Malaysian pro was joined on the rail by Kahle Burns who banked £160,000 and British high stakes cash game guru Elior Sion whose fifth-place netted him £202,900.
America’s Cary Katz took his lifetime winnings past the $20 million mark when he collected £251,500 for his fourth-place finish before Timothy Adams added £307,000 to the £1,400,000 he won in the Triton Million event.
Adams’ exit left Lucas Greenwood and Loeliger to battle it out heads-up for the title. Greenwood crashed out in second-place for £466,600, the second-largest cash of his career, only surpassed by the $779,268 he banked for winning the $25,700 High Roller at the 2017 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure.
Loeliger was the man of the hour and padded his bankroll with £690,000.
