Pablo Melogno bet 450,000 from the button on a flop of 8?J?2? and Paulius Vaitiekunas raised to 1,125,000 under the gun. Melogno called and the 5? fell on the turn.
Vaitiekunas then bet 950,000 and Melogno again called. The river was the 7? and Vaitiekunas bet 2,150,000. Melogno then moved all in and Vaitiekunas, with around 2,000,000 remaining, shook his head before throwing his cards into the muck.
Up at the feature table, a player raised to 240,000 under the gun with the K?Q? and Justin Carey called from the button with the K?J?.
Daniel Negreanu then three-bet jammed from the big blind for 1.03 million and the original raiser folded. Carey, who was getting 2:1 on his money, thought for a bit before calling.
“If you have two overs you’re in good shape,” Negreanu shared.
Daniel Negreanu: 10?10?
Justin Carey: K?J?
“Come on, baby, let me win a flip one time,” Negreanu said hopefully. Unfortunately for him, the proverbial coin didn’t come down in his favor as the 9?J?4? flop paired Carey’s jack.
However, the Q? made things interesting as Negreanu picked up an open-ended straight draw. Unfortunately for the GGPoker Ambassador, the 6? river was a brick and his Super Main Event came to an end.
“I had no fun today at any point from the start … so tilt,” Negreanu lamented. He finished in 170th place for $67,300.
Anatoly Filatov shoved for 1,380,000 in the hijack and Alex Foxen made the call from the big blind.
Anatoly Filatov: K?Q?
Alex Foxen: A?10?
Filatov pulled out his phone to record as the dealer went to the 8?8?7? flop. "Wrong ones," Filatov said pointing at the spades instead of the clubs. The 10? turn and 7? river were no help as Filatov headed to the exit and Foxen continued to add to his stack.
Jeff Platt was standing by the table preparing to interview Jeremy Dan when Dan got involved in a pot with Daniel Kyosev, putting his last 2,200,000 in the middle from the cutoff as Kyosev called in middle position.
Jeremy Dan: 10?10?
Daniel Kyosev: A?K?
Dan was racing for his tournament life as the flop came J?10?2?, giving him a set and Kyosev a straight draw. The 9? turn was safe for Dan, while the river was the J? and Dan improved to a full house to secure the double up.
After the hand, Platt asked Dan about sweating out that hand. "The sweat was seeing tens and having you breathing down my neck, but I guess it wasn't. The Jeff Platt curse is over," Dan declared.
The action folded around to Tomas Telek in the small blind who just limped in. David Peters was in the big blind with around 1,500,000 after coming into the day as one of the bigger stacks from the online portion of the event. Peters shoved his stack into the middle and was met with a snap-call from Telek.
David Peters: K?10?
Tomas Telek: A?8?
Neither player was able to connect on the 5?3?2?J?5? runout and the ace-high from Telek was good enough to send Peters to the rail.
Erik Seidel moved all in for 1.96 million from the button and Marcelo Aziz called from the big blind.
Erik Seidel: 5?5?
Marcelo Aziz: A?K?
It was a flip and Seidel was looking to hold to stay alive. The Poker Hall of Famer, who won a bracelet at last year’s WSOP Paradise, made it through the 6?10?Q? flop as well as the 2? turn, but the A? on the river was a dagger through his heart.
Seidel was eliminated in 161st place for $67,300 while Aziz chipped up to 10.7 million.
Ognyan Dimov raised to 325,000 in middle position and Alisson Piekazewicz three-bet to 800,000 on the button. Dimov then moved all in for 2,500,000 and Piekazewicz snap-called.
Ognyan Dimov: 10?10?
Alisson Piekazewicz: 8?8?
Dimog had Piekazewicz dominated until the flop brought J?8?2? to give Piekazewicz a set. The 8? turn gave Piekazewicz quads for the second time today and Dimov was drawing dead by the 3? river and heading for the exit.
Mikhail Iakovlev moved all in for 2,240,000 from the button and Andre Marques put him at risk in the cutoff.
Mikhail Iakovlev: J?J?
Andre Marques: K?Q?
Iakovlev, wearing a shirt with the GGPoker "One Time" emoji, took out his phone and began filming the action as the flop came 5?9?2?. The 10? turn gave Marques a straight draw, but Iakovlev held on through the A? river to earn the double up.
Joni Jouhkimainen opened to 325,000 in middle position and Chris Hunichen three-bet to 990,000 in the hijack. Alex Foxen stuck in a four-bet to 3,000,000 from the big blind which got Jouhkimainen out of the way. Hunichen five-bet shoved all in and Foxen called off roughly an additional 2,000,000 chips.
Alex Foxen: A?K?
Chris Hunichen: A?A?
Foxen was up against it with Hunichen holding the number one in Hold'em. The board ran out 10?9?4?3?7? and Foxen was left drawing dead by the turn, sending a healthy amount of chips across the table.
Jeremy Dan was all in for 3,500,00 from the big blind, Andrew Park had his last 9,400,000 in the middle from the button, while Ermo Kosk in the cutoff put both players at risk to create a pot worth more than 22,000,000.
Jeremy Dan: A?Q?
Andrew Park: K?K?
Ermo Kosk: A?A?
Kosk had woken up with aces and was poised to take the tournament chip lead as the board ran out 10?6?9?4?J?, giving him the pot and sending both Dan and Park to the rail.
"That's ludicrous. How do they pick up those hands? God's favorite," a frustrated Dan said as he spent a few moments muttering to himself before heading for the rail.
"Can I get some change?" Kosk called over to the tournament floor as he raked in the massive pile of chips.
The next hand at this table, Michal Wywrot shoved for 2,285,000 under the gun and Darren Elias called on the button.
Michal Wywrot: A?2?
Darren Elias: A?J?
Both players hit a pair on the J?2?4? flop, but Elias remained in the lead through the 3? turn and 6? river to send Wywrot to the rail.
