Unlucky Seven for Brady
"A seven?"
So asked Matt Brady more to himself than to anyone else as he contemplated what to do. He and his opponent had made it to the river, building a pot of 2,200 between them along the way. The board read , and Brady, playing from middle position, had fired a bet of 1,500. His opponent on the button then promptly raised to 4,500, and it was that gesture that had caused Brady to ask his question.
Finally after three minutes of thought, Brady set out the calling chips. His opponent quickly turned over his hand for a set. Indeed, that river seven had been the trouble card. Brady showed his hand to his neighbors before mucking, and was subsequently made to show it to all . "One-outer," said another at the sight of the hearts, further noting the good fortune of Brady's opponent.
Brady has slipped back down to just under the starting stack.
