Set Over Set Sends Woods to His Curtain Call
Big O
The player under the gun limped and action folded to the button who raised to 40,000. Joey Couden called in the small blind as did James Woods in the big blind. The player under the gun called as well and all four players headed to a Q?2?K? flop.
Couden checked and Woods tossed out a bet of 80,000. The under-the-gun player and the button both folded to put action back on Couden.
After a moment, Couden check-raised pot totaling 370,000. Woods thought briefly before saying, "Okay, I'm all in."
Couden snap-called the rest and both players were headed to a run out with Woods at risk.
James Woods: A?Q?Q?J?8?
Joey Couden: A?K?K?10?9?
After seeing that he was on the wrong end of a set over set confrontation, he knew he was going to need some help with either another queen or a card on the turn that gave him a live low draw as he had the only possibility to make a low.
When the turn came the J?, Woods was dead to the last queen in the deck. The river J? sealed his fate in what would be his final scene of the tournament before exiting stage left.
