2022 WSOP Day 36: Clarke Leads Main Event; Glantz Banks a Milly
Table Of Contents
Day 36 of the 2022 World Series of Poker (WSOP) at Bally's and Paris Las Vegas saw three tournaments progress, including the ever-growing Main Event. One tournament crowned its champion, while another paid out a $1 million bounty, a prize larger than what first place awards!
The only bracelet of Day 36 went to Sean Troha who triumphed in Event #69: $10,000 Pot-Limit Omaha 8-Handed Championship. Only five of the record-breaking 683 field made it through to the final day's action, and it was Troha who was the last man standing. Troha defeated start-of-the-day chip leader Shiva Dudani heads up to capture his first bracelet and $1,246,770 in prize money.
Matt Glantz was the lucky bounty event player who got his hands on the $1 million top bounty prize. Glantz said swapping 10% with both Shaun Deeb and Paul Volpe was the main reason he was fortunate enough to reveal the seven-figure prize.

Patrick Clarke Tops Main Event Day 1c Counts and Lead Overall
Ireland's Patrick Clarke finished Day 1c of Event #70: $10,000 No-Limit Hold'em Main Event with 397,200 chips, which not only resulted in him finishing the flight as the chip leader but he leads the Main Event overall with only one Day 1 remaining.
Clarke is extremely well-known in his native Ireland, not least because he won the 2014 Irish Open Main Event. He came close to becoming a European Poker Tour champion two years later when he finished fourth in the EPT Dublin Main Event, and then narrowly missed out on a WSOP bracelet in 2019 when he fell in sixth place in the $888 Crazy Eights event.
Day 1c attracted 1,800 players and 1,376 of those progressed to Day 2abc.
Xuan Liu enjoyed herself on Day 1c, bagging up 268,200 chips when the fifth level concluded. The former 888poker ambassador is one to watch as the Main Event progresses.
Others who bagged up chips at the close of play included Jesse Sylvia (229,400), Nick Yunis (196,900), two-time bracelet winner Timur Margolin (188,500), Tristan Wade (160,900), Humberto Brenes (153,400), Brian Hastings (136,900), Dan Smith (118,400), Maria Ho (116,700), and Jason Koon (114,600).
Joe McKeehen (95,000) and Joe Cada (53,700) were the two previous Main Event champions who punched their Day 2 tickets after Scott Blumstein, Greg Raymer, and Hossein Ensan crashed out at various stages of Day 1C.
Among those who faltered on the third Main Event flight were Matt Berkey, Brandon Steven, Martin Kabrhel, Daniel Negreanu, Vivian Saliba, and Shaun Deeb.
Day 1d commences at 11:00 a.m. on July 6 and everything points towards it being massive, so much so that we could see more than 8,773 total entrants, the current record set in 2006.

Hof Flying High In The $1,000 Bounty Event
Natalie Hof (37,200,000) returns to the action in Event #68: $1,000 Million Dollar Bounty second in chips and with a very real chance of becoming a WSOP champion. Only 32 players stand between Hof and poker glory.
Fresh from an eighth place finish in the recent Ladies Championship, Hof is full of confidence and it showed on Day 2 of the Million Dollar Bounty event as she navigated her way to the chip count's summit. Only Canada's Michael Smith (50,300,000) has more chips than her going into Day 3.
With blinds and antes set at 400,000/800,000/800,000a when play resumes on July 6, the stacks are rather shallow, which means nobody is out of the running. Look out for such luminaries as Florian Duta (26,700,000), Charlie Combes (24,300,000), Wojciech Barzantny (9,700,000) and brother Daniel (17,300,000) and Caio De Almeida (6,300,000) on Day 3.
